Understanding Long-Term CareWhy BHCS?Specialized ServicesPropertiesResources

Overview

Williamstown Commons combines the cultural and natural richness of the Berkshires with top quality, professional care. And as a member of Berkshire Healthcare (BHCS, nonprofit), we receive the finest, experienced management within a network of healthcare experts.

Our staff is handpicked to provide the utmost level of knowledge and personal attention, allowing us to boast capabilities beyond the ordinary. Complicated cases are our mainstay. Access to pulmonologists, pharmacists and a dedicated rehabilitation staff also aids in a team approach to quality care.

Although both our long and short stay residents and short term care patients come from all over, for many different levels of care, they share one thing in common upon arriving - an appreciation of the area’s offerings. Boasting stunning natural vistas, two nationally recognized museums, Williams College and a flurry of seasonal arts activities, the town is a wealth of opportunity and interest. And since living life as fully as possible is our aim for every resident, getting out and enjoying these local attractions is encouraged and aided as much as possible. We also participate in a number of programs that bring the outer community into ours. Some of these include day care visitations, school age pen pals and single parent outreach projects. Staying active and involved in life is something we feel very strongly about–and participation in any program is, of course, according to individual desire. Similarly, where there is interest, a program can be started.

The facility itself sits on 8 acres including several gardens and pathways, just five minutes from downtown Williamstown. Each of our semi-private and private rooms has an individual bathroom. We cater to personal needs with an on-site beauty and barber shop, exercise classes, cable TV and numerous events and programs throughout the year. To make the atmosphere both comfortable and familiar, bringing cherished items of furniture and mementos is encouraged, as well as the frequent use of our private dining room for special family occasions.

Beyond comfort issues, our facility is also equipped to care for more serious and complicated patients. We’re large enough to accommodate both respite and short term rehabilitation care. We excel in Alzheimer's and memory loss resident care in our dedicated dementia care unit. We promote monthly “maintenance” programs to proactively keep our residents at their best.

Our primary goal is to return and maintain every person here to the highest level of independence possible, whether that means returning to a past interest or hobby, regaining the strength to return home, or simply enjoying a healthier diet. We encourage you and your family to set up a tour to find out more about our offerings.
